Ever been invited for drinks or perhaps an early
dinner after work and you just couldn’t be there on time because you had to go
home and change into more suitable clothes?
Well I’ve personally been there
more than a couple of times. It used to be somewhat of a challenge for me to
create an informal outfit from work or church clothes and my scant initiative
in that field made me spend more than is required on articles of clothing because I had to resort to buying separate
items for casual evenings’ and entirely separate ones for the job. As a result
of that, my wardrobe was segmented accordingly and the different pieces were designated
for specific events which in essence meant I couldn’t use business for causal
& vice versa (don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wide off the
mark about having special clothes for special events, but the point here is you
can creatively wear these same pieces in diverse ways to accommodate different
styles and occasions while saving your wallet). An ample number of work-appropriate
pieces can so effortlessly be transitioned into evening wears thanks to the
mere fact that it’s actually how you wear them that makes the difference.
Five
easy ways to mix & match from business to casual
1) A basic blazer and pencil skirt combo can be
transformed into a groovy twilight look by simply using a sporty tank top underneath
the blazer. You may decide to take the jacket off after work to look more laid
back but either way the outfit works for both day & evening.
2) Incorporating a playful piece of headgear (a
colorful scarf, fedora hat or turban) to a button-up combo is a great way to
turn an originally work assembled attire into a fun easy breezy look.
Introducing any of these accessory items to the mix automatically dresses down what
might have initially appeared all business.
3) An office-appropriate silk blouse can get a sexy
evening upgrade when integrated with strappy heels and a body-con skirt, its
good enough for work and also suitable for an evening out with the girls ( or
bae or perhaps a potential bae whichever the case might be *smiles*).
4) Sharply structured blazers can get turned around
from being all professional into casual by simply pushing up the sleeves.
Doesn’t matter whether you’re wearing it with a skirt or pants so long as the
blouse is softly textured (if it’s a shirt, remember to undo a button or two).
5) Pencil dresses are totally worth investing in
because they offer a diverse range of functionality. It’s appropriate for both
casual and business appointments. Worn with a slim belt curved round your waist
or a scarf around your neck adds an even more attractive flavor to the look.
The nonrestrictive character of a pencil dress makes it the most favorite
business-casual item in a lady’s wardrobe.
