My Nigeria My Home

I  had a swell day at church last Sunday and it was inspiring, it was our independence thanksgiving service, the attire display of ethnicity was overwhelming and i was so proud to be part of this great nation's diversity.

I realized how resilient we are as a nation, a never can die spirit runs in our veins, we are indeed a race to be reckoned with. We survived the civil war, militants attack, kidnappings, insurgency, series of explosions and yet we march on stronger and our diversity is our strength

Like my reverend said "some of you are opportune to have dual citizenry, good for you. As for me, i have just Nigeria and i will be fight for her peace". As a nation, we have the 7th largest population in the world and number 1 in Africa. With a population of 177 million plus, the next nation to Nigeria's population in Africa is Ethiopia, which have a total population of 86 million plus. As a matter of fact, Ethiopia's population doubled is not up to Nigeria's surmountable population. No wonder it has being said,"when Nigeria coughs Africa catches fever".

We are so great a nation that if by chance we decide to stop international trade, a lot of the so called big countries will suffer an economic meltdown, because we are their life line and support. I  know someone reading my post will  say "if i hear" but i am confident in my great Nigeria. Mek i tok to una wey don bad belle this ogbonge country Nigeria, change ya mentality.

The worst a foreigner can say about Nigeria is that we are poor and we are corrupt. No problem, but corruption and poverty is everywhere now, it is worst in the so called big countries of the world, no wonder when they can't bear it any longer, they commit suicide. For Nigerians we no dey commit suicide at all, we dey struggle to achieve success. If that Foreigner still dey hammer corruption and poverty for ya ear and im dey close to you, just ask am, Mr foreigner no vex, i say mek i ask you, for your country una don survive civil war, una don survive series of terror attacks, una know wetin be militant and tribal clashes,  kidnapping  nko, una fit go one day with out power supply, water nko, at the end, ask am again are you a legal immigrant, no vex mek i see your documents. My country people se una know sey una get right to call police for am because im no legal to stay Naija. But if the foreigner show you im legal papers, den look am for eyes ask am "oh so we corrupt and poor and you no gree return your country? But mek una forgive the one wey sidon for TV they yan plenty.

All am trying to do is to stir up the man in every one of you. With all this things that has hit us, i am confident that God is a Nigerian. It can only be by divine hands that we are still together. A lot of Nations have  separated  due to civil wars. Economic bail out and recession is messing some nations of the world, some big countries can't handle or solve the use of fire arms that has claim more lives than a terrorist attack. We are doing good in Nigeria.

The truth is we are not separating, i have no other country but Nigeria, we are a strong and adaptable people. We are well traveled, if there are only two black men outside the shores of Africa, i tell you both of them are Nigerians. Have you ever traveled to a place were you think you will never find a Nigerian and at the airport you just heard someone saying "Nne eh we just land, this place cold no be small, but we go make am" (ndi igbo daa lu nnu - my igbo people well done). Nigerians are everywhere in the world and we can't be ruled out or treated as nobody.

We are so strong that you would see a woman who is a petty trader and her husband a mason, training their six children in school up till the university. A boy who hawks on the street does that to train himself in school and still feeds his family, that's a Nigeria am proud of. In my country once there is an accident, we don't throw a blind eye, we stop our cars on the road, run to the scene of the accident and help save lives, we volunteer our cars to take the injured to the hospital and we do all these before the agencies in charge shows up, that's a nation i am proud of. We leave our wares at the open market, run errands and the next person helps us to sell our goods and keep the money for us, most times we leave the goods there to retire for the night and they remain as it was left,we are our brothers keepers. After a hard day's job, our akara and bread, koko da kose, amala ati ewedu, tuwon da Miyan taushe and nkwu elu na isi-ewu gives us hope for a better tomorrow.

It was predicted that by 2015, Nigeria go scatter, but God shame them, those that predicted our disintegration were so accurate , as a matter of fact, they have never failed in any predictions. But Nigeria fall their hand keep for ground. I love Naija, falling prophets of doom's hand since civil war. We are not predictable, we are stronger than last year.

The truth remains i have countless of brothers and sisters who are bound in brotherhood and in the unity of this great nation. I call you to greatness Nigeria, i call you to a change of attitude and i call you to a change of mind. Nigerians we have a never die spirit in us. We are getting somewhere and i will love to see you all at the greener side of my great nation Nigeria.
