So i was on my own, and i received a call from a dear friend of mine, she asked me my opinion on dating a co-worker. Immediately i said no way in hell will i date a co-worker (at least that's for me), to much nose in my business.
She told me a certain co-worker of hers has being asking her out for a long time and he keeps sending her messages and leaving gifts on her desk, everyone is beginning to notice and she doesn't know what to do. I asked about her office policy concerning fraternizing with a co-worker and basically everything public and private i should know about the man and the office.
Since am not a love doctor, but as a curious bug,i started snooping around for articles that can help my friend and possibly anyone that finds his/herself in such situation.
Bingo! An article published by the Cosmopolitan issue of April 2015:The 10 commandments For dating a coworker. Lemme share its commandments to you with my own side dressing.
1) Thou shall first get the low down on the company interoffice policy. Forbidden keep it in thy pants (as in don't start it at all)
2) Have the hots for thy co-worker? Thou shall keep it discreet until you know its reciprocated (if you like this coworker and the person is not liking you back forget him/her, you don't want to be the next news at 9)
3) Thou shall treat office dating like ice cream: indulge sparing..... and the object of your affection better be Talenti. (sugar is sweet but not too good for your body, respect the office environment, don't be to cozy with your partner or someone will lose their job).
4) If someone ask, thou shall come clean. Don't give anyone a reason to think you are not trust worthy (so you have been hiding this office romance, you didn't cover your trail well and you were caught. If you are asked tell the truth. For your sake, i hope the office policy accepts dating a co-worker if not, someone may be saying bye bye to her job or always remember commandment number 1 before you indulge).
6)Thou shall treat each other professionally and never give thy lover preferential treatment (very hard but its true. You don't want anyone thinking you are partial).
7)Thou shall not post cutesy, incriminating pics you wouldn't want co-workers to see on instagram (permit me to add suggestive and seductive,let your relationship be as discreet as possible)
8)Thou shall continue to foster relationships and friendships by socializing with other co-workers(remember its a relationship not bondage be free always).
9)Thou shall not talk or use thy work computer to send naughty emails while on the clock (no sex-ting either. face your task and deliver work profits).
10) Thou shall not bad mouth him at work if you breakup. Even if he cheated, even if he cheated with thy sister.
Dating a coworker is still a no-no for me.
